The voices in my head

They don't seem to understand

They tell me to get through today

I look in the mirror

Take me as I am

Tell myself not to open the bottle

Not to throw it all away

But it's all because of me

I let my head get away from me

And I'll always say

Throw down the bottle

Slam the door

Don't let them hurt you anymore

But tell me why would you do this?

Why take everything away from me?

So tell me who hurt?

Who made you this way?

Why would you say this?

Why would you do this to me?

Do you look in the mirror ans take in what you see?

Or do you want to end it all just like me?

But if you I'll always say

Throw down the bottle

Slam the door

Don't let them hurt you anymore

So just close your eyes

And take a deep breath

Be who you are

And let life handle the rest

So put down the razor and put down the knife

Put down the rope it's going to be alright

It may seem far but your futures bright

But today I'll look in the mirror

Open the bottle

Tip my head back

And forget about the world

I can't save myself

But maybe you can

The author's comments:

I wrote this piece to discuss my feelings. I was once in a bad place in my life but I'm better now. This is honestly probably nt very good but it's simply about a girl fighting the voices locked in her head.

This is really, really interesting. I'm so glad that you've put it out there. The way you oscillate between different voices with all these seemingly disconnected thoughts crashing down into the words all at once really creates that feeling of feeling lost, alone, and overwhelmed in your own head. I also like how you're experimenting with a mixture of rhyme and slant rhyme. Your voice definitely comes through. This doesn't feel like a finished piece to me, but it's certainly a great and inspired start. Keep writing!
