“And I knew her soul wasn’t something to take lightly. In a world where very little truth existed, her soul was a pariah, standing alone burning like a wildfire in my bones– a flaming crescent across pale midnight skies.”

Christopher Poindexter

Being with you was like holding my breath under water.
I swear, I tried to hold my breath as long as I could.
But, sometimes you would sucker punch me in my guts,
And I had to open my mouth, staggering and choking on my breath,
And the water would seep in.
But I would quickly shut it, trying to prevent any further damage to my bruised lungs.
But the day you decided to use your knife instead of your fist, I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
The blood was rushing out and the water was flowing in.
Before I knew it, my veins were empty and my eyes were filled with the chlorinated water,

Glossing over the tsunamis you created.
