Where I'm From
I am from burnt Eggo waffles,
To “come on it's time to go”
from the tan line of mid calf socks...
An family that always on the go.
I am from practices before the sun,
To the roaring “let's go” of the red faced coaches
from tiring weekends with the squad.
I am from Sunday morning church,
To “Is your homework done?”
from family before friends
I am from the 1 O’Clock card games at the rusted red cabin,
To “we caught another one”
from the sweaty thumb on the throttle.
I am from the wooden cabinets and Grandma’s Christmas cooking,
To “can we open presents now?”
from the funny but yet interesting side of my mom's family.
I am from those moments,
To “treat others how you want to be treated”
from a rushed made lunch...
An Eggo waffle burnt.
