Water Bill
I'm not supposed to cry like this
Hiding in the white-walled bathroom
So no-one hears my sobs but the mirrors
Harsh reflections accusing my stained cheeks and
Red-rimmed eyes of wasting water
Crying over a man who has never loved me
Crying because he's my father
Or so the birth certificate says
Why should the mirrors even care
They're not the ones who pay the water bill
Still, they continue to glare
But it's me who pays the water bill
I pay for every drop that leaks from my eyes
I desperately need a plumber
