Just laugh

When the sky darkens before my eyes
My heart begins to realize
That i wasted another day
Of waiting for him to show up and say
Those beloved words
Those cursed words
I cannot believe he didn’t show
And as my spirit drops low
I reflect again on the very day
That i lost the words i used to be able to say
I am strong
But it won’t be long
Before i lose myself to the way
I wait for him till the end of every day
Because the seductive nature of the gone
Is what has led me wrong
So my heart yearns for the time
That his words completed me as smoothly as a perfect rhyme
And when he actually returned
But i still have yet to learn
That he died in the war
And now my dead, old heart is sore
From the effort of reaching out
And at the funeral i couldn’t help but to shout
Come back to me, i will never forget
But by the end of the day my mind resets
I guess promises aren’t meant to be kept
Because every day my heart has wept
Over him and the time and place
Where i could hear his voice or even remember his face
So as i look up at the stars
I wonder if i am very far
From seeing my love
In the land of up above

I don't know how a teenage girl like me could connect with this topic, but i did.  I hope this poem makes you feel sad(sorry) but also makes you wonder about other peoples worlds.  Be curious about the lives of others and the unknown, like i was when i wrote this.
