Only yesterday you
came home showcasing
your ABC’s, drooling
over Clifford the Big
Red Dog, belching the gummy
bear song, still unaware that
Disney is just the clean
version of the Grimm
Brothers’ tales.

But today your
heels click along
tiled flooring, fluorescent
lights illuminate pale shadows
beneath your eyes, shoulders
ache with the weight
of stress.

You’d savor the
simplicity, if
you could rewind time.
