Living in Fear
What is life if you’re always scared?
Always watching behind your back trying to stay prepared
We don’t want to get harassed like prisoners who have escaped
We are scared to get pulled over as if we have weapons and drugs in the car but your Mcdonalds you just picked up
When in actuality we don’t have anything at all
But why
Maybe because we know there is a chance we might die innocent
And we all just want to stay alive
We all are just trying to survive
Now you might ask what kind of person am I
The type to run and hide like there was a monster outside
And when its time to fight back just sits and cry and let it ride
Or the type who is ready to put his life on the line like MLK or Rosa Parks
Or the type who just sits there and wonders why
Why does it happen?
Why do they continuously harass black people?
Why do they hate black people as a whole race?
We as black people need to take a stand
Make a change instead of just sitting back asking why
