the loud lunchroom
The loud lunchroom.
Here I am once more.
Between the salmon swimming upstream
but not among them
Fish swim in pods
in the Pacific
and in the lunchroom.
I am an anchovy
I too have a pod
But sometimes the current sweeps me away
and I find myself in the freshwater stream where the salmon dwell
and I find myself not yet ready to go back.
Wondering
if that unprecedented gust of water
was a curse or a blessing
or if I leaned in to its embrace.
