I Should Have Liked To Live
I should have liked to live
When the air held every ounce of green life
When greed didn't take the form of cities
When real talent wasn't ignored and rejected
When intelligence was more than just a word
When people didn't get offended by everything
When freedom didn't end in fear and slavery
When heroes weren't just a thing of the past
When you didn't feel the need to be better
When conquering the "weak" didn't prove anything
When true justice wasn't replaced by equality
When respect for your environment existed
When fear wasn't used to have power over people
When morals weren't just a thing for little children
When religion didn't mean narrow-mindedness
When murder wasn't reclassified as "rights"
When lies hadn't polluted the atmosphere
When greed didn't drain the world of resources
When to be different was an honourable trait
When people talked less and did more
I should have liked to live
In a time that never was ours to keep
For all that we are is a greedy, tainted race of destruction
Lightened with the sweet touch of hope
