To A Friend
I see the light in your eyes get dimmer, day by day
Watching the darkness swallow you whole, forcing you to stay
You hide yourself and become only your mind
Others go forward while you fall behind
I can't bare to watch as you rip yourself apart
Your brain slowly replacing what was once your heart
You tore yourself apart until you shattered
Decided life and the world didn't matter
There are pieces of you all over the ground
I want to help, but you won't make a sound
When you look in the mirror, I don't know what you see
You are no longer yourself, and I am losing part of me
You used to be the sun, but now there is no light in the sky
I used to be the moon, but I no longer shine
But we are both humans with real lives
I didn't realize you were the one you despised
I'm trying to find the person you were before
But that person doesn't exist anymore
