What becomes of the broken heart?
Does it deflate
like an exposed sarsaparilla
Or seep
like a punctured tire
Maybe it grows coarse
like a teddy bear
left under the bed
Or tarnish
like silver once pure
Does it wilt or wither away?
Does it sing in the silent abyss?
Does it burn in the sun
on the deserted sand
Or bleed tears of purple and blue
Perhaps only in time will I know
