Confidence isn’t my Best Quality

Before I leave the house
I always remember to put on my face
To hide my red marks and blemishes
Concealing the circles under my eyes
From nights that I laid restless in bed
Even with this
I still cannot find comfort
Clothes are ragged
Teeth are crooked and stained
I take up way too much space here
I will remember one insult
Over a thousand compliments
It’s sad to say
My self-esteem relies in the confirmation
Of complete strangers
