I am without a house key, and I am standing in the darkness of the second floor because the motion sensor won't go off

It's weird being dropped off at a different location than the one I've been dropped off at for eleven years

There weren't that many presents this year. I bought most of them, but mainly for others. For once it wasn't all about me

This year has been as dark as this hallway...

The floor below me is silent and peaceful, while my neighbors above me are blaring music and I can tell it's a grand time

My family is traveling back up north in silence listening to Christmas carols

The cemetary is probably closed, and I thought about him today

I wish it were open so I can talk to him again

I like our talks. There's something calming about talking to a stone with a familiar name on it

This year has been dark, and I am standing in what feels like the metaphor for my life this past year

There is a peaceful family under me, a celebrating family above me, and I am tucked away in the middle

The middle is where the two collide, except it is dark here

I am without a house key, and I am standing in my past year

I have moved, and it is still dark
