Pep Talk
“Don’t worry, nobody’s expecting much from you”
Is that supposed to be a pep talk?
With how “little” hard I try
With how much that gets written off?
If i’m not up to your standards
Am I trying at all?
Like a tree in a forest debating to fall.
Well I take my high heels in strides just as wide
As how low you see me with my head held high.
My steps will not waver, gentle with intention.
If too loud they’ll scare away my confidence.
But what I see as a kings walk
You see as a mouse's crawl.
You don’t expect “much” from me?
Is that true at all?
I take wide steps in my heels, I will not waver or fall.
So tell me, is that really a pep talk?
Is it encouraging at all?
