Clover
I was lying in an open plain
  Nestled within a grassy terrain
Untangling the blades with my fingertips
  Patiently awaiting a lunar eclipse
I was plucking strands out one-by-one
While I lingered under the setting sun
Beneath the blades I was skimming over
  I spotted a lonesome four-leaf clover!
Oh what luck!  How can this be?
Could this fate be meant for me?
Perhaps my worries will go away!
Or perhaps the sun shines everyday!
Or maybe I’ll become so lucky
And win a vacation to Kentucky!
I’ll hit the lotto and move to Spain!
Heck, I may never see a day of rain!
I’ll buy a boat and sail the seas
Learn French, and German, and Chinese!
My friends will love me at recess
I’ll never lose a game of chess
  I won’t be grounded anymore
Or sit in time-out on the floor
I’ll be lucky seven on my team
And for dinner there will be ice cream
Oh what luck and oh what fun
Dreaming of all that could be done!
I was about to pluck it from the ground
When suddenly I heard a sound
A little voice inside of me
  Whispered softly, “let it be
For you are safe under the sun
Your life has only just begun!
And somewhere there's a boy in town
Whose all alone and broken down
But tomorrow he may come around
And find that clover in the ground”
