Inseparable
Sometimes I want to turn my phone off and forget about everything.
In the back of my mind,
I see your name flash on my screen,
And I continue with the routine of replying within a second
In the hope that you realise
You should be home with me.
But I never get the call that says ‘come over’.
Over and over,
Feelings wash over me like the tide
When I see you by someone else’s side.
And I know you want me in your life
But I think sometimes, it wouldn't hurt to prove it.
Like when I'm waking to an empty bed,
Or going home to an empty house,
Or sitting in silence, with loud thoughts that tell me not to forgive you
For never being here.
The least you could do is let me know you need me,
Instead of letting the earth separate the inseparable.
