Where I'm From
I am from the bountiful abode with a porch full of pups.
A place where chaos casts the norm.
Lives a family who escapes to sports by carving through the ice.
From dad pushing me to pursue a sport--any would do.
I skipped down the soccer field twirling my hair.
Competitiveness concurred those around me, yet not my style--I stayed with friends.
I am from a life packed with travel.
A place where brimming car rides to Florida remain routine.
Holds a family made of six who are “all about the adventure.”
From being the oldest child with all the firsts.
The first to drive, first to work, and first to leave home.
Yet, I have become the last one up every night.
I am from Spaghetti dinners made by grandma.
A place where laughs and hugs remain expected.
Sits a family made up of eighteen minus the one with a canon--lost long ago.
From tenacity and tear drops.
To the uncertainty of what comes next.
I wait patiently on the porch full of pups to see where life leads me.
