Eye Contact
“Have you ever seen such beautiful eyes?”
I suppose I haven’t, though I have a friend whom
I haven’t met sends me photos quite often-
They’re unequivocally stunning.
“I like to wear red, it’s a nice contrast to my green eyes”
I’m never quite sure what to say
Complimentary, yes, but not
Distracting from her eyes in which flowers seem to grow
Her eyelashes- petals- delicately placed in even rows
They have seen winter’s cold, bitter frost,
And emerged from the thin layers of ice
In full bloom.
I am convinced,
If I were to see these eyes
In person, so would
I.
