Growing Up
The temple towers over my timid form
quaking in fear with the thinnest of armor
to cover my flesh.
Jumping off my horse
my chain-mail hits against the meager armor.
I softly scamper to the squeaky door
and hit the bell sleeping on the side of the structure.
The door opens but no one is there to greet me.
I step on the tan tiles beneath my
steel toed shoes,
looking throughout the dimly lit room.
I see paintings and stone walls,
but no one is there to greet me.
