Clotho spun your thread
It started before mine,
And when my thread was weaved

Lachesis held out our strings
They must have gotten intertwined
So our futures became permanently fused into one.
I don’t believe in soulmates,
But I believe that we were accidentally made to complement one another.

Without you my days mirrored that of Sisyphus,
I pushed my boulder up as high as I could,
When it looked like I completed my dull daily tasks without delay
It would send the boulder back down
So I could restart my daily strife.

For so long I felt like Atlas,
The god who holds up the earth,
Because I felt as if it was my duty to hold the earth on my already burdened shoulders.

When we hit the point in our life
Where our strings danced together
Life was as perfect as it was on Mt. Olympus
But I cannot override whatever gods that decided we would be starcrossed
So we separated.

I was similar to Orpheus
When I went to save you I didn’t believe;
That you were safe,
That you were behind me,
That truth did reside in any world.
So as I reached so close to the end of Hades’ underworld
I peeked
You looked so beautiful in the moment before you disappeared.
You always looked beautiful.

When your thread was cut by the old maid, Atropos
Crueler than her sisters by far in her older age.
I was sure you could see my heart break into pieces,
Before you closed your eyes for the last time
In a silent goodbye.

However I’m not the Greek hero
Who could go down to Hades and save you from your fate
To go the distance, I can’t complete a herculean task.
All I can do, is pray that you reach Elysium safely, because you were the hero
Who saved me from myself.
