Purgatory of Heartbreak
I smile at you from across the room
Your eyes give me a scowl
But your lips fake a grin
The muscles in your face
Exercise the details of our past
Sweat drips down your cheek
A tear down mine
My eyes follow it to the ground
Finding my heart on the cold cement
I absorb into the sorrow and become hard
Like your stare
Fixated on me
I wish your gaze would burn these memories
The way it scorches my skin
Stuck in this twisted hell
In the middle of what used to be
And what will never be again
Even if we are less than together
We will always be more than friends
