those were the days.
Those were the days
Where, once upon a time
The sunrise bathed the world in gold
The sunset tucked in, with love, us good night
Ah, those were the days
Those were the days
When, the tears came falling
You weren't alone, and
You loved and were loved
There were those days
Where fear took over
Fear of never succeeding
Fear of losing success
Fear of then
Fear of now
But -- those were sprinkled all in between
Those were the days
Where everything happened for the first time
Win, kiss, rejection
The blocks that built your walls selectively, higher up
There are the days
Where everything happens for the very last time
Every breath, every blink
Natural yet terrifying
edifying yet destructive
Reviving mortality
Yet questioning it
Ah
Those were the days
Where life was simple
All 'twas but a dream
Love was like lust
And failure a mere scratch
Those were the good old days
There were scary parts
There were amazing ones too
But
Hey
Those days are now
They're the breath you're taking
The love you feel
The pain that remains as a dull ache
Those days are moments
Stringed in time
Woven through people and places
Those days aren't forever
And
Neither
Are
You.
