Sea spray flies and specks
My dreary worn face.
My crew lies stone cold on deck,
I never should have led them to this terrible end.

The wind bellows and the seas howl back.
Though nothing lies ahead,
But blacker black,
And the outstretched hands of the dead.

The cloak skims across the distraught faces of sailors lost,
Blue lights disguised as eyes flash upon mine own,
And in a moment of fear and utter mortality I let out a gasp for air.

It sees and understands that I know my time has not yet come.
It vanishes suddenly and with a crashing wave I'm embraced by icy terror,
Gripping at my neck pulling me ever down.

Set adrift upon a piece of my beautiful vessel,
I lie on my back drying up in the new born sun with my only companion,
Whose cloak is dry despite our situation.

"I'm here to guide you. To help you on your journey to the next world."
His hollow voice seemed so far away.

I could not speak back,
But instead I pulled from my pocket:
A golden locket.

The bright blue lights perused the locket's secrets,
The memories, everything that lurked within mine own soul.

The lights shone from the hood brightly into my eyes,
And in an instant that felt a great deal like a lifetime, I saw them all...
The secrets, the memories, and my sweet Audrey.

The cloak's bright lights dyed down,
And for a moment I thought I could see what resembled a face looking back with an empathetic smile.

Then it all faded back into that blacker black.

I'm hydrophobic so I like writing about death at sea. Is that weird?
