Anxiety
We met at the age of 3
You didn’t like birthday parties or playing games.
I tried to make you happy
but my mom made me go.
In the next years you got to know me better
And I you.
Then there came the thunderstorms.
Oh how we hated them
we missed day after day of school just in case
Then you left and I didn’t take notice.
You were still with me during thunderstorms
but then you would leave so suddenly.
But you followed me.
You followed me all the way across the border.
Where we became friends again in grade 7.
We were like two peas in a pod.
And even though you made me sick
I liked that you didn’t want me to do that presentation either.
Once I found out your name
I have to say that I hated you
You who had been with me for 10 years
And now I wanted to get rid of you forever.
Until I realized,
I can’t live without you.
You’re a part of me.
You’re there for me when noone else is.
You’re the friend that will never leave me.
You’re with me even if there’s nothing to be anxious about
like a guard dog always on alert for anything to pop up.
You’re here with me now excited to be appreciated
for so many people want to get rid of you.
I don’t.
You’re my best friend.
You’re my life.
