Innocence
Under arms of leaved nature,
A patchwork of sunlight
Filtered through.
Lazy river gliding by;
Songbirds twittering and flittering.
Dirt trodden ground
Worn by the slapping of sole.
Barefoot and carefree,
Tangled hair in short tresses,
Wrinkled blouse falling from her shoulder.
She plays as only a child can,
Imaginative bursts.
A pirate ship, egyptian princess;
Underwater caves and monsters with swords.
She runs and weaves and skips and ducks.
No thought of time or worry of tomorrow,
She feels as though she could fly.
The world is a conglomeration of possibilities;
A dance floor, and she dances pointe.
No fears, no goodbyes, only tomorrows.

This is an emotional and nostalgic piece reminiscing about my childhood.
