As I stare into your eyes, I wonder,
‘Is this’s what fear feels like?’
Death upon me, I opened the door,
You were waiting all along, old friend.
Images of black, of death, in mind,
You’ve always been there, haven’t you?
Right by my doorstep, waiting for me,
To open the door and… greet you.
Do you have a clue as to,
How scared I am?
How long I waited with murdering suspense?
I’ve been living to fall asleep, to return, all along.

I wrote this at school, the day after my schoolmate passed away from SLE. He was my age. It made me realise how short life can be. 'You' in the poem refers to death, by the way
