The Death of a Legend
I stand there, looking up at the
whitewashed wall with the dark,
stained wood plaque, with a
tarnished bronze plate attached
to it, and a description of his family
life. The day he died, everyone lost
a great person. Thousands attended
the small church where he went to
mass, the bright windows
streaming in light. The great
cornerback, the legendary coach.
His beautiful mahogany casket, well
polished, was admired by all
as everyone took their turn saying their
goodbyes. Wrapped around his
crossed hands was a silver chain
with a cross at the end, shining in
the light of the windows. He won
199 games in his career, enjoying
every one of them. His legendary
clipboard became a prized
possession to the winner of the
Madison football rivalry.

This is about my grandpa, who was a legendary football player and coach. I take great inspiration from him, and know he smiles down on me every day.
