my goggles
My mom and dad say they were useless to buy
But they just don’t understand.
Every 1 100th of a second can affect my future plans;
I tighten my goggles and prepare to race.
Wearing them gives me faith;
As I put the goggles over my eyes and step on the block;
I know my time will be shown on the clock.
For all the spectators to see
“Swimmers take your mark… BEEP!!”
I launch from the block,
Entering the water
My teammates cheer
The audience roars
I use all I have…
Finally seeing the touch pad.
