Capturing the Night
I wish that I could catch the moon, steal it from the sky. But then the stars would frown at me from celestial thrones up high.
I wish then I could trap the stars, keep them in a jar. But only with my worn down feet I never could climb that far.
So I wish that I could grab the galaxies and watch them in the night. But catching all the billions would be a far-fetched plight.
So I wish to snatch a moon rock, her very lovely daughter, but she is much too nimble, I never could have caught her.
I look up into a starry sky, watching their glinting, diamond eyes. I wish to keep their beauty, steal them from afar, but then the sky would be left in painfully lonely dark.
