My Love for Sushi
Colorful umbrellas, dragons, and sake bottles surround me,
while Japanese words fill my ears.
I’m in a corner booth…alone,
eagerly waiting my sushi.
As the smell of sliced raw fish, tempura and udon noodles infiltrate my nose,
I see my waitress...
California Roll.
Crunchy, crunchy, crunchy.
I see the shining green of the cucumber,
squished next to the sheeny crab.
One bite brings a smile,
as it melts in my mouth like cotton candy.
Mercy Roll.
Spicy, spicy, spicy.
The Jalapeno placed on top,
it’s fumes intrude my nose and set fire to my lungs.
The burning in my stomach roasts like a roaring fire,
and my face turns red like a flaming chili pepper.
Bahama Mamma Roll.
Sweet, sweet, sweet.
A rainbow bundled in seaweed.
The lights dance of the gentle pink hue of the tuna like a star.
Wasabi’s 4 house sauces ooze like an erupted volcano.
One bite and the soft savory texture hugs my mouth, and warms my core.
Sadly the taste of opposites,
combined to create an elegant distinguished symphony has come to an end.
It’s time to leave my corner booth, and the smell of Japanese foods.
I pay my bill and head for the door.
My moment in heaven is over and it’s time to go back to reality.
