LOOK AT MY PROFILE. DO IT.

Gravity, why do you restrain me?
I am not your mindless marionette,
That I may be held from strings
Manipulated by the soiled hands of the earth.
Every day I wish to call out,
“Let go! Let go of the past!”
But the tears of the world weigh me down.
I was a lamb gambolling in a field of azure
Before I was shorn of my happiness
And condemned to a grey and bleak life.
I long for release from my enslavement;
No more do I want children gazing up at me
And imagining the things I could be,
But may never be while I am yet corporeal.
Tell me; is it just a naïve fantasy?
Am I simply made up of the dust of my toil
And all my evaporated, meaningless hopes?
They say that slumber may take you to away
To a dreamland where every cloud has a silver lining,
But my soulless spirit can never rest.
Just let me dive into these blue waters before me
And venture into the darkness and weightlessness
Of the mysterious universe beyond,
That I may find the heaven
Where angels’ stolen wings are returned to them.
Then the shadows and tears will leave my eyes
And I will finally be freed from the chains
Of this cruel, mocking Gravity
Who is so desperate to keep me from dreaming.
