"Be Safe"
We’re insecure. We hide in self doubt. We throw ourselves away.
But at least we’re safe. We’re safe because they tell us it’s safe.
Passions are impractical. It’s too dangerous to be yourself.
So they tell us to close our eyes and follow them, to close our minds and think like them.
After all, what do we know about the world?
We’re teens. We know nothing.
We’re young. We’re naive.
Practicality is a foreign thing.
So they tell us to close our eyes and follow them, to close our minds and think like them.
Torn apart by some opinionated reality,
we drown our dreams and work for money without aim,
And because we’re young we trust in what they say.
So when they tell us to close our eyes and follow them, to close our minds and think like them,
We listen.
And we’re safe because they tell us it’s safe
to throw away our dreams.
We close our eyes and follow them,
We close our minds and think like them.
And we become machines.
