When I Stand
You will never see me cry
Nor revel in whatever pain I may feel
You will never see me mourn my losses
Or hold onto regret caused by you
But you will hear me scream
Out into the void
Into the darkness
Into whatever hells await me
You will never hear
Mouse-like whispers scurry
From the attic behind my trapdoor lips
But you will hear me shout in defiance
Boldly and brightly
Resisting the weakness that might enslave me
In one glorious gesture
That symbolizes my impassive will
And indomitable spirit
You will then know
And understand all too frighteningly well
That I will never fall beneath the rain clouds
But instead I will flash with the lightning
And shake heaven with my thunder
And you will see the fury of a storm in my eyes
When I stand
