A Shallow River
She stood there in the light of day, the sun shined in her eyes. The wind blew swiftly through her hair like the water through her toes. The birds sang songs for every soul who’d lend an ear to listen. And she smiled because life was pure and the world was filled with joy. She stood ankle deep in a shallow river, heart full of peace and love. And she was silent in her paradise of freedom and harmony.
She stood under the pale moonlight, the tears shined on her face. The looming tree creaked eerily and the water was quiet and still. The dark creatures who creep and haunt the night appeared to stalk and kill. And she cried because the world was grey and life a vicious cycle. She stood ankle deep in a shallow river, heart empty with despair. And she was silent in her self-made cage of helplessness and fear.
