[teenagers in a forest] MAG

they come whooping and shouting and
running down the forest path
old kids between redwoods
young people, wise trees.
we were quiet, curious, respectful
breathing with lungs deep
like peace.
they stumble, energy and exuberance
propels them forward
air full of life.
our tranquility is shattered
by ten, twenty seconds
of joy rushing past.
