Paternity Leave
  You take everything about me
  Personally
  Grasping my own words
  (Even) the future ones-- unheard
And take them as your own
  Get your little feelings hurt
It’s not my fault you can’t form the words
  That the vodka tells you--
  "It’s not you; it’s her"
  You blame it on me,
  It’s terrible really
  And from outside, so silly
  Another drink in exchange for
  More time to grieve
In exchange for what this time?
And what will it be-- the next time
  Unplug your ears to hear
Those alcoholic fears, even though it’s much too late to
  Go back for you;
The (same) you used to do for me
  But then again, that was
  Always me all along
  Who did the saving anyway.
