Pending Title V
Footprints on my windowsill
Snow crunching under my converse
My heart outrunning my chest
Your all too gentle kiss on my throat
My hands in your hair
But my mind somewhere else
I have unfolded and refolded this memory so many times
That there are now permanent creases
Like the ones around your eyes when you smile
And around your mouth when you frown
Or the ones on your palms that I traced with steady fingers
The folds have obscured parts of the image
So I can no longer see the curve of your upper lip
Or your hand cupping my cheek
And your other on my lower back
I can't see your forehead resting against mine
Or the way you looked at me
I can’t see all of it
So I will defeatedly fold it up again
And hide it away in the back of my mind
Until it’s once again time to remember
