Where I'm From
From a rural farm,
manure smelling land, crack of the log splitter, no neighbors in sight.
Young and learning
From years of doubting,
“he’s better than you” “you won’t play football at Arrowhead” “you’re so lazy”.
Motivated and passionate
From sweaty, summer workouts,
horrendous metcons, screaming coaches, and blazing turf.
Developing character and strength
From dark Friday nights,
thousands of fans, student section chants,
changing coaches and seeing that bright yellow flag.
Dealing with adversity and learning from mistakes
From the people before me,
“you’re not the first” “you’re going to make a great player someday” “all we do is work”.
Learning leadership skills and setting an example
I am from football,
2015 division 1 state runner up, 2x all-conference, Joe Thomas award nominee.
Proving the doubters wrong and being a leader
