Where I'm From
I am from the scorching days out on the lake,
the weekend sailing competitions on Pewaukee lake.
Wakeboarding and swimming with friends,
Jumping into the refreshing summer water.
I am from the sun burn that comes with summer.
I am from the house by the lake.
Where I am walking distance from the water,
waking up and hearing the waves crashing on shore,
The morning sunrises over the clam lake,
The sun peaking over the east shoreline
Where I am casting my bait trying to catch a fish.
I am from the freezing nights on the ski hill,
Attempting to do laps until the lift closes,
Taking my coaches criticism and using it in the next run.
I am from the high school ski races.
The intense pressure of the parents,
Who are watching our runs like hawks.
I am from my schools,
The classes where I met my friends.
I am from the laughs and the lunch table,
To the entertaining sports practices after school.
I am from a loving family,
The fights we have during game night.
I am from the weekends,
Were my family is regularly thrilled to relax.
