phases
every night I glance at the phase of the moon and hope to be closer to fullness
the moon engulfs me like a hug I search for in darkness
light shines all around me in the midst of blankness the distance between the earth and the moon is one-thousand oceans that my body could never have the strength to swim across
who could possibly build a bridge strong enough to carry the length of my longing ambition of completeness
I am a puzzle unsolved
the pieces float in the water like a life-saver waiting to be pulled ashore
but the string attached is thinly sewn through the palms of those who have attempted to solve me
with every pull, the string would rip apart the hope of my attempters
in my dreams gravity is absent and the missing pieces cascade up to my friend
the moon
the puzzle wraps around the moon that is in a phase not yet solved
but tonight the pieces fit comfortably into the missing gaps
to soon create what I have forever searched for in the sky
fullness.

This was a piece we had to do on a regular activity we do. I look at the moon every night.
