your eyes.

your eyes are the bullets you fire at me

just so you can watch me cower in fear

while your ego frolics

through a field of daisies

that used to be golden

but their hues have now faded into nothingness.

your eyes drain me

of all the strength i once possessed

and force me to shrivel up

like a dying flower,

gasping for breath.

your rich  amber eyes

are like sweet honey dripping

until the black holes begin to come into view

and the beauty suddenly disappears.

your eyes are the twinkling stars

speckled against the night-sky canvas

because although they shine at first

they'll always vanish and leave me wondering why.

your eyes are like the chipped white paint on my walls

the reflection of deception on a window

a half-finished poem i scribbled in pencil

an old candy wrapper that crinkles with a single touch

and a shattered glass doll

the pieces never picked up.

your eyes distracted me

every time you told a lie

every time you broke a promise

and every time you said i love you when you really didn't mean it.

your eyes are venomous

and have haunted me throughout all the nightmares i’ve had.

i can draw your ghostly eyes from memory.

and if i ever do

i’ll immediately tear them up

but before they’re gone forever

i’ll be sure to color them in gray.
