Gym Class
The dew’s in the sky
The sleep’s in my eyes
The cold mist engulfs the outside
We lifelessly go through the motions
Round and round the track again; the world seems like a blur
Up and down the hill again
Back and forth the objects go
Until no one knows where they go
I stop and look at myself.
Confused if that is my cold sweat or fog residue
Tweet! Tweet! Tweet!
The sweet sound alarms my feet to go bolting to the door
Inside the locker room is an array of squeals
That my ears will never heal from
The school bell of freedom rings.
Classrooms burst out with children
Forming a sea of people in the hallway
Making two left turns
And up the neverending flight of steps
It’s where I go next
