Quills and Parchment MAG
  prehistoric ritual
old as the ships that Blackbeard sailed on
for even the most ferocious pirate
must have wanted to write down what he did
  make a monument of himself
at least in the eyes of the ink-bearers,
they wrote down what they saw and thought themselves wise
told everyone that spinning tales was humankind’s refuge
  but nowadays everyone can write
yet very few people tell their story

I was inspired to write this from the Ink It poetry contest prompt. I think this poem is true, at the very least. I think that's all I wanted it to be.
