Learning To Fly
We inch,
devouring trees, plants, and flowers.
We see grace,
fluttering through a manufactured forest.
Why can't I do that?
What we took for granted now gone-
the refreshing light, the cozy sun, the luscious forest.
There’s others nearby.
If we listen closely, we hear the buzz.
Where have I gone?
My time has arrived-
the new light, warm, powerful, and bright.
I feel anew.
The sky's inviting as I take flight.
Who is this new me?
I flutter throughout this forest of wonder I once knew-
luscious trees, plants and flowers.
My new wings protrude, casting shadows down below.
When will they learn how to fly?
