Haircut

April 25, 2018
By Anonymous

As a toddler, society took
a blue crayon from my hand
before it met the coloring book,
my young mind didn't understand

why I should grow out my hair
into tight braids that won't relax,
make dresses all I wear
and choke on pink wax

Now, with hair on the floor of a salon,
free from femininities confines,
I'll paint my skin blue
just to color outside the lines.
