Where I’m from

I’m from regretful lips,
from curled toes and a thoughtful mind.
I’m from toy trucks,
taking me on my next adventure.
I’m from read aloud poetry,
Every stanza creating the perfect harmony.
I’m from cinnamon toast,
sweet and spicy.

I’m from the love of the broken,
from the joy of making peace and an anxiety filled donut.
I’m from plastic swings,
Filling my brain with hope and wonder.
I’m from his warm embrace,
from the smell of a new book and the hatred of a bumble bee

I’m from a thoughtful kiss,
from a comfort filled baby blanket and a pencil with a heart.
I’m from a broken home,
a place of fear filled love.
I’m from words,
words recovered by
You

In English class we had to write a poem about where we are from. I had a lot of fun with this assignment and after my teacher told us about the site, I decided to submit it. (The poem is personal so it may not make sense to all)
