Leave
Sometimes
I am afraid
You will
Just up
And leave
That you
Will find
A quick replacement
For the piece that was
Said to be lost
That you will
Fill that gap
So easily
That it hurts
On both ends
Now I know
This is not what
A good friend would
Say
I’m not allowed
To feel
A thing
Because that’s just
The rule
But it’s what
I feel
And I cannot
Help this
Can I?
That you won’t
Feel
On the other end
On the other side
The side that is miles away
Years
And a life
Away
I feel myself
Drifting
Something to hold on to
Sometimes to call home
Nope, can’t find it
Because I’m not just
A dog with a bone
Content where I am
I need something
To hold on to
Something
That will never
Leave
But ya know
It’s all in my head
Because
That’s what they said

When writing this poem, I wanted to express the meaning yet fragility of a friendship and what it can mean for one's mindset of the world. The world says that we are either hidden or told to hide our true emotions for what we hold dear. It's a sad but true fact. We just don't want to take the risk of admiting something is happening when we don't it to to begin with. Sometimes only you can discover that for yourself.
