The Drill
You can’t assess a situation,
Until it happens to you.
So when the announcement comes on the station,
You know what to do.
You hear the shots firing out,
On the first floor.
Everybody’s screaming,
So you run for the door.
You better run, better run, as fast as you can,
Run away from the killing man!
Don’t Stop, Don’t Stare, Nobody Cares,
Or you’ll be eaten by the terminator!
Sirens draw closer,
As blood splatters the walls.
Twenty shots to the head,
Between the eyeballs!
You better run, run as fast as you can,
Run away from the killing man!
Shoot! Shoot! Ask questions later!
We’ve got to stop this type of behavior.
Parents crying seeing their kids in body bags.
Schools on lockdown,
Kids clothes all in rags.
Two kids inside thought it was a drill.
They drew attention to themselves,
To see their best friends killed.

This poem is a call out for change regarding the recent gun violence, specifically school shootings. Gun violence is something that needs to change before more lives are lost. #enough
