The kids who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving ways.

Flames engorge the lifeless trees

And ash suffocates the land

The crows refuse to crow

The stench of death arrives

Lost in the smoke it all burns

The earth’s heat erupts abruptly

Pain and suffering longingly lingers

the cries ring out like booming echoes

As the inferno is lit within.

The author's comments:

The California fires have sparked a conversation for many different people not just in California but around the country people have rallied around the state to support their efforts on rebuilding and controlling these brush fire outbreaks. Fire's like the ones that occurred in Australia was also the reason I wrote this piece I imagined the fires as a beast eating everything in its path.
