Stillness in Saber
February 21, 2023

                                A butterfly lands,
On the tip of my saber,
Stillness in motion.

As a sabre fencer, I wrote this haiku to express the beauty of fencing. The butterfly creates a sense of beauty, tranquility, and harmony in the midst of an otherwise intense and energetic sport. Fencing is a sport of "stillness", graceful, and fluid movements, even in the midst of intense physical exertion and fast motion.
